RESULTS – WEEK 3 – FRIDAY, 17th FEBRUARY
It was great to see the car park full on Friday night when 27 golfers took on the front nine for the Week 3 Stroke event. Particularly pleasing is to see members bringing their wives and partners to the club for a social nine holes and then staying on for an evening meal. Due to popularity after his debut performance last week, budding musician Ben Minarelli was invited back and once again provided our evening entertainment. Over 60 meals were served by the kitchen! RESULTS – WEEK 5 – FRIDAY, 2nd MARCH
What a golf journalist’s ideal headline “Versace Triumphs at Whittlesea Golf Club”. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the famous Italian fashion designer, but instead and equally welcomed in our eyes, Melbourne Airport Golf Club member, Giulio Versace. 25 golfers took on the back nine in what can only be described as ideal golfing conditions. The course presented well considering the large amount of rainfall occurring throughout the week and these conditions quite evidently suited visitors better as they dominated the leader’s scoreboard. Now with a $50 Voucher for groceries, Foodworks in Whittlesea can look forward to a Versace visit J Winner ($50 Foodworks Voucher): Giulio Versace 33 nett Runner-up: ($25 Foodworks Voucher): James Behan on c/b 36½ nett
5pts Giulio Versace 4pts James Behan 3pts Mark McKeon 2pts Carol McKeon 1pt Kevin Earl RESULTS – WEEK 6 – FRIDAY, 9th MARCH
A gorgeous Autumn evening saw 29 golfers take to the front nine in Week 6 of the series. The course is in great condition for this time of the year and this was certainly reflected in scoring. The competition was tight at the top of the scoreboard, but in the end it was young junior Joseph Bland who narrowly held off Glenda Eddy in the countback to take out top honours for the night. Don’t forget the prize for the Player of the Series is a fantastic $100 Foodworks voucher, so the more you play, the more chance you have of winning J Winner ($50 Foodworks Voucher): Joseph Bland 22pts on c/back Runner-up: ($25 Foodworks Voucher): Glenda Eddy 22pts
5pts Joseph Bland 4pts Glenda Eddy 3pts James Behan 2pts Steve Dundon 1pt Aileen Dundon RESULTS – WEEK 7 – FRIDAY, 16th MARCH An unseasonal downpour saw only 10 of the 22 golfers taking to the field return their scorecard for this week’s competition. With his second win for the season, John Meakins blitzed the field with an excellent 20 points on the back nine. The Player of the Series competition is heating up, and with only two rounds to go and a potential 10 points up for grabs, the competition is still wide open for anyone to take home the $100 Foodworks voucher.
